The first transport - How to?

Getting Started What information do we need to organize the transportation?

Our company offers to provide the appropriate transportation vehicle for the agreed time interval, and will drop off the goods in the agreed time and at the agreed drop off point. It is very important that You (i.e. the pick-up and drop-off points) are responsible for loading.   The following points should also be taken into consideration:

1.       The address of the pick-up and drop-off points

2.       The specific parameters of the goods to be transported (length, width, height, weight)

3.       Pick-up and drop-off times

4.       Other things that lot of people do not think of but we do.

1.  Both in Hungary and abroad, we need to know whether there are any applicable entry restrictions at the given address. This is why it is preferable to request a direct contact (contact person, phone number) for both the pick-up and drop-off points, as these points are usually able to give information. (Our colleagues are always ready to help in keeping contact with both national and international companies)

2. Simplified:  the parameters of goods that can be transported are determined by the dimensions of road vehicles. You can find the most frequently used vehicles together with their parameters in the Vehicle Types menu.  Parameters of goods to be transported should not exceed the following dimensions:

·         Width: 240 cm (250 cm)

·         Height: 250 cm (300 cm)

·         Length: 13.6 meters

·         Weight: 24,000 kg.

It is possible to carry out the transportation up to the dimensions in brackets, but this can significantly increase transportation costs, so it is best to keep the above dimensions as much as possible. (Please ask for help or advice at our colleagues).

3. Unforeseeable circumstances can occur while carrying out any transportation task.As driving and working times of workers is strictly regulated (in a very complicated manner), should there be a road block, a traffic jam, a traffic restrictions due to a holiday, increased loading time or any unforeseen circumstance that only lasts for half an hour, there might be an eventual delay of up to 9-24 hours in carrying out the transportation task. It is always best to leave two successive working days for pick up and drop off.  Please ask for help or advice at our colleagues.

4. Some other frequently occurring issues and questions:

·         The above points apply to the transportation of regular goods. It is also possible to transport dangerous goods (ADR), goods that require cooling or keeping a specific temperature, and oversized goods -- these require extra arrangements beforehand.

·         It is important to see whether the pick-up pint has any special requirements. Little vans usually have a box on their back, so they can be only loaded form behind with forklifts, as they are not ramp-high. They obviously cannot be loaded with the help of cranes, and the structure of many ramp-high cars with canvases is not appropriate for crane loading either. It should also be taken into account that no forklifts should get on a smaller lorry, as its surface could break -- so these have to be loaded from the side or the pallets should be put on with the help of a manual tool.

·         The goods must be packed so that it can be transported without any extra effort.

·         It is not possible to exchange or return pallets. These will be dropped off together with the goods. (Please ask for help or advice at our colleagues.)

·         In case the quantity is low or an urgent delivery is needed, extra care should be taken regarding the height of the payload -- it should not exceed 180/200/250 cm. The lower the payload is the more vehicle types will be available to transport it.

·         Our price quotes refer to the specific transportation tasks, so the fees are always subject to change for different time periods, even if it is for the same distance and goods. Should this happen, a new quote has to be asked for.

·         If the payload weight is more than 1500 kg, then the lorry can take 1000 km at most within 24 hours.

·         Traffic restrictions might apply for lorries according to their total weight which can vary from country to country. (Please ask for help at our colleagues).

·         If the drop-off and pick-up companies' details should be kept secret from each other, this has to be noted to our colleague.

·         National holidays should be taken into account when scheduling delivery. Transportation costs may increase before and after bank holidays (due to significant traffic restrictions). Transportation schedules should be planned after these days. Please ask for help at our colleagues.

Should the price quote be satisfactory, an oral discussion is also needed.
